Weekend Plans: I am in Atlanta for Christmas! Next week will be more of a round up from the year and I'll probably be taking the rest of the year off and will be back SWINGING in the new year!!
I know I *know* its mid-December and I'm just now sharing my November reading list. But what can I say? Things get busy around the holidays! Better late than never!
P.S. A girlfriend at work got me these PJ pants for our secret Santa exchange and I loveeee them and I'm hard to shop for! They also double as really cute beach pants FYI! I've also found a new way to curl my hair to give it more of a beachy vibe. If you guys like it let me know down below and I can share how I curl it in another blog post.
Summary: On her birthday, Senna wakes up locked in a house in the middle of nowhere surrounded by an electrical fence. Now it's up to her to tap into her past and figure out why she's here and more importantly, how to get out. She holds the key to her freedom but it's not without heading down a road she has tried to suppress.
Why I liked it: I don't even know where to start or why I loved this book so much but I did. I've been thinking about it ever since and I feel like I want to re-read it. It was a thriller and really left you confused for half the book but once you pieced it together it all worked out perfectly. I like how the author wrote the main character; how she made her real. They also connected a real song to the book that made it perfect. I love the song and I love how it helped tell the story of the main character.
Summary: Jenny suffers a violent attack at a high school party and her parents decide to try a new drug to medically erase her memory of the event. But there's a problem: you can't actually erase a memory because while the brain may forget, the body remembers.
Why I liked it: Oh man this was a hard one to read. It was pretty graphic and was too dark to get into at times, but I pushed through and I was able to really get into it. I think the overall summary of this book was emotion. It made me really emotional: sad, angry, scared, relived, confused. It really just brought out all my emotions, and they were STRONG. Thats how I tell the sign of a good movie and now, a good book.
Summary: It's a story of a young couple who has hit a breaking point in their marriage and instead of calling it quits officially, they decide to take a year off: a year apart from marriage. It's a story about falling in love, falling out and finding your way back to yourself again.
Why I liked it: It was a good pallet cleanser from my thrillers. It's an easy beach read and one that is a simple book to go through. It's nowhere near her best books (and I've read many of her books) but it was still cute. It had me turning the page wanting to see what happened.
Summary: Cass drove down a road she wasn't supposed to be at night and saw something out of the ordinary but didn't seem to do anything about it. But days and weeks after she felt as if something was off. Wy didn't she help? Why didn't she get out of the car? What if? It keeps nagging her and is driving her to the point of crazy. Is someone watching her? Why is she forgetting everything? Will anyone help?
Why I liked it: I LOVED her last book, Behind Closed Doors so I decided to pick this one up. It was a good book but nothing like her other. I liked that you thought one thing the whole way through and then in the end there's a twist that changes everything. Something you really wouldn't see coming!
Summary: Karen was in a bad car accident in a bad part of town, running from something or someone. But when her husband Tom, and the police, ask her why she was there or what she was doing -- she can't remember. Now she's home trying to pick up the missing pieces.
Why I liked it (Why I stopped reading it): The writing for me just wasn't good. I couldn't get into it. It was told via a third person narrative and it was just all "he said this" "she said that" and I just couldn't get into it. I will pick it back up again to see it with fresh eyes. It was nothing like The Couple Next Door -- which I loved!
Anyone else really miss snow days from when they were kids? There was NOTHING better than it snowing and you praying to have your school shut down! Those were the days...
I've lived in cold weather for a while now and have had my fair share of winters but more importantly jackets. I've had every jacket under the sun promising to keep me warm in negative degree weather but none compare to my Canada Goose jacket. I mean I ride along the water each morning to work on a bike and the only part of me that is cold are the places where my jacket isn't.
Outside of me raving about this jacket, I more so wanted to show a casual winter time look (I actually wore this to work last week!). I've become a bigger t-shirt and jeans kind of girl with the new addition of these J. Crew t-shirts. I SWEAR by them -- and they're only $12! I feel like I've been on the hunt for a great simple t-shirt and have never truly found one. Until now of course. I have three in white and two in every other color. I'm even wearing one now as I type this! The hype is real y'all.
And a newer addition to my wardrobe are these sorel boots. I just wanted a winter boot with a wedge for work and these are great! I think what I love most is the fact that they are SO comfortable for wedges. I mean I walk around all day in the city with them on and my feet didn't hurt at all. Thats a win!

The Plaza Hotel (and all around the area) is one of my favorite places to take guests who are in the city. Especially around this time of year, it just *screams* holidays and, as you know, no one does the holidays like New York City.
The Plaza is at the tip of the shopping areas (all beautifully decorated), at the beginning of the park -- which has lights AND a skating rink and it just around the corner from my two favorite trees: the Palace Tree and the Rockefeller Tree. What is not to love?
Of course, it being so beautiful brings a lot of tourists and wanderers BUT the trick is to go early in the morning. These photos were taken around 10/11am on Sunday and there was just about no one around. That's pretty impressive if you ask me!
Since its been so cold I d.ecided to really bundle it up with (it seems) all the cable-knit items I can find. The first being this beanie -- I've been wearing it nonstop since I got it in --it's huge yes, but it's perfect and warm and you'll be easy to find hahah. It also comes in more muted colors if you're interested!
The next is a new to me scarf from Barbour (my love) and its dense and SUPER warm. It feels like something my mom would make and I love it! Paired it with my favorite wool coat (that I've had for over two years now and is 20% off) and you're in neutral paradise.
Then finally, there is the new cable-knit sweater dress which is a staple for anyone looking for a thicker dress for the colder months. Comes in two colors and fits TTS -- I'm wearing a Medium here and I love it. I paired it with some OTK boots for work and I was good to go!
